I'm a parent who has struggled with the public school system ,lots of promises but little real action.the iPad has helped my son Joey start to communicate and its his favorite thing. Your autism class room will be a real help in setting up a home program and coordinating it with his teacher at school in terms and actions we both can consistanly understand.keep up the good work.I really appreciate the free ebook dl as I'm a single father on tight budget.
Thank you

This is one of my most challenging areas I hope to work on this year. Thank you for the ideas. I just noticed, however, that four of my students have IEPs due in the first two months of school. Yikes!

I can't believe in the early years of my teaching, I had no schedule. Of course this was back in the nineties. It is so vitally important to children with special needs, especially those who have autism.

Teaching routines is one of the most important things you can do at the start of the school year. I like the concept of "muscle memory." By doing the same routines over and over again they become ingrained not in just the brain, but the body as well.

I am posting on my blog 101 ways a teacher could help a child with autism, and I wanted to post a link to you webpage as a recommended resource. It seems you have some excellent materials available.

Thank you!

I tried the website AutismFreezone.com and googled it, but I can not seem to find it. Has the link changed?
Great article. I am always scouring Craigslist, Freecycle, and yard sales for items for the classroom.
